The 2012 Dodge Charger R/T AWD sport sedan comes equipped with a new, second-generation, touring-tuned AWD suspension. The R/T AWD also has a slightly lowered ride height (4mm) compared to other Charger trims and larger 19-inch cast aluminum wheels with all-season performance tires. Power comes from a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that generates 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, the V8 manages fuel economy numbers of 16/25 mpg, thanks to Fuel Save Technology, which enables the engine to run in 4-cylinder mode to conserve fuel when full power isn't required. Safety features include two-mode electronic stability control with all-speed traction control, as well as antilock performance brakes with brake assist and rain brake support. Hill Start Assist, a Sentry Key theft deterrent system, advanced multistage front airbags, front seat-mounted airbags and side-curtain front and rear airbags also come standard.
The Charger R/T AWD's cabin includes such upscale features as heated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a 4-way power-adjustable passenger seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Dual-zone air conditioning with air filtering, keyless entry with remote start, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, aluminum interior accents, illuminated cupholders and power windows and door locks also come standard. The 6-speaker Uconnect media center includes a 276-watt AM/FM audio system, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth, CD/MP3 player, USB port, audio jack and an upgraded 8.4-inch color touchscreen, which displays music and climate-control information. Outside, the Charger R/T AWD displays such standard features as HID headlights, foglights, heated power exterior mirrors, a rear spoiler, dual bright exhaust tips, 19-inch cast aluminum wheels and a signature racetrack taillight design with 164 LED lights. Dodge also offers a new, optional R/T Road & Track Package for 2012, which adds heated and ventilated performance seats, driver's seat memory, power-adjustable pedals and steering-column memory, as well as a black honeycomb-style grille, a rear differential with a 3.06 axle ratio and 20-inch chrome-clad wheels.
