Overview of 2012 Dodge Charger Police By R. Feeman

The 2012, rear-wheel-drive Dodge Charger Police 4-door sedan seats 2 police officers and 3 perpetrators. It comes equipped with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 producing 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque. The V8 mates with a 5-speed automatic transmission with a manual-shifting mode and manages fuel economy numbers of 16/25 mpg. The Charger Police accelerates from 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and from 0-100 in 12.9 seconds, with a governor-limited top speed of 103 mpg. Dodge also offers the Charger Police with a 292-hp, 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 for departments on a budget. The Charger Police has an upgraded suspension and modified rear spring rates to ensure stability during high-speed pursuits. Safety features include two-mode electronic stability control control, all-speed traction control and antilock brakes with brake assist and rain brake support. Hill Start Assist and a Sentry Key theft deterrent system also come standard, along with advanced multistage front airbags, front seat-mounted airbags and side-curtain front and rear airbags.

Inside, Dodge mounts the shifter on the column to free up space between the seats and adds a red interior dome light and PA system. Other interior features include heavy-duty cloth bucket seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a keyless entry system, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and dual power outlets. In addition, a variety of equipment packages add such features as a police floor console, front and rear wire harnesses, a power distribution center and a trunk tray. The Dodge Charger Police rides on 18-inch steel wheels.
