Overview of 2012 Chevrolet Equinox LT2 By R. Feeman
The 2012 Chevrolet Equinox LT2 receives a few new features for 2012, including a Color Touch Radio with a 7-inch color touchscreen, USB port, CD player, SiriusXM radio and rear-view camera, as well as new optional 18-inch chrome-clad wheels. In addition, Chevy offers its new MyLink connectivity system as an option for the LT2. The system wirelessly links smartphones into the vehicle's audio system, providing access to apps, music and information. The LT2's driver's seat features an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, and both front seats are heated. In the second row, a Multi-Flex sliding rear seat moves back and forth up to 8 inches, enabling drivers to maximize space for passengers or cargo. The LT2 also gets an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and a remote vehicle starter, as well as air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, OnStar, power windows and door locks, a rear-view camera and an 8-speaker, 250-watt Pioneer audio system, controlled through the vehicle's Color Touch Radio with a 7-inch color touchscreen.
Outside, the LT2 displays such features as halogen foglights, heated power side mirrors with integrated blind-spot mirrors, a roof rack and standard 17-inch aluminum wheels. Power comes from a choice of engines. The base 2.4-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder engine generates 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque, and posts fuel economy numbers of 22/32 mpg, while an optional 3.6-liter V6 delivers 264 hp and 222 lb-ft of torque, with fuel economy numbers checking in at 17/20 mpg. Both engines are FlexFuel-capable and link to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Six airbags and GM's StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation come standard, along with traction control, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Trailer Sway control and antilock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist.
This overview covers the LT2 trim only.
