Overview of 2012 Chevrolet Equinox LT2 AWD By R. Feeman
The 2012 Chevrolet Equinox LT2 AWD crossover vehicle comes equipped with Chevy's all-wheel-drive system, which sends power to the front wheels under normal operation but shifts some torque to the rear wheels when it detects slippage. The AWD system channels power from either a 2.4-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder engine, which generates 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque, or an optional 3.6-liter V6, which delivers 264 hp and 222 lb-ft of torque. Both engines connect to a 6-speed automatic transmission and run on both regular gas and E85 ethanol. The 4-cylinder engine posts fuel economy numbers of 20/29 mpg, which drop to 16/18 for the V6. Standard safety features include the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation, as well as traction control, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Trailer Sway control and anitlock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist.
New interior features for 2012 include a Color Touch Radio with a 7-inch color touchscreen, USB port, CD player, SiriusXM radio and a rear-view camera, as well as an optional MyLink connectivity system, which wirelessly links smartphones into the vehicle's audio system, providing access to apps, music and information. The touchscreen also provides access to a rear-view camera and an 8-speaker, 250-watt Pioneer audio system. The LT2 AWD's driver's seat features an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, and both front seats are heated. The second row features the Multi-Flex sliding seat, which moves up to 8 inches forward and back, maximizing space for passengers or cargo. An auto-dimming rear-view mirror and a remote vehicle starter also come standard on the LT2 AWD, along with air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, OnStar with Bluetooth, power windows and door locks, and 6 airbags. Outside, standard features for the LT2 AWD include halogen foglights, heated power side mirrors with new integrated blind spot mirrors, daytime running lights and a roof rack. The LT2 AWD rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels, or owners can opt for new 18-inch chrome-clad wheels.
This overview covers the LT2 AWD trim only.
