Overview of 2012 Chevrolet Equinox LT1 By R. Feeman

The Chevrolet Equinox LT1 receives a few new standard features for 2012, including a Color Touch Radio with a 7-inch color touchscreen, USB port, CD player and SiriusXM radio, as well as a new rear-vision camera, with images displayed on the color touchscreen. A Multi-Flex sliding rear seat, which moves back and forth up to 8 inches, makes it easy for drivers to maximize passenger or cargo space. In addition, the leather-wrapped tilt/telescopic steering wheel includes audio and cruise controls, and the driver's seat features power lumbar and power height adjustments. Other standard features for the LT1 include OnStar with Bluetooth, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, cloth seats, power windows and door locks, and a driver information center with a compass.

A 2.4-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder engine powers the front-wheel-drive Equinox LT1. The engine, which runs on both regular gasoline and E85 fuel, produces 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. The powertrain also includes a 6-speed automatic transmission with an Eco mode, which adjusts shift points for improved fuel economy. Mileage numbers for the base powerplant check in at 22/32 mpg. Chevy also offers the 1LT with an optional 3.6-liter V6, which generates 264 hp and 222 lb-ft of torque. It posts fuel economy numbers of 17/20 mpg. GM's StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation comes standard, along with traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Trailer Sway control and 6 airbags. Outside, standard features for the LT1 include power side mirrors with new blind-spot monitors, daytime running lights, a roof rack and 17-inch aluminum wheels.
