Overview of 2012 Chevrolet Equinox LT1 AWD By R. Feeman

The 2012 Chevy Equinox LT1 AWD comes equipped with the automaker's all-wheel-drive system, which channels power to the front wheels under normal operation, but shifts torque to the rear wheels when it detects slippage. The system works in conjunction with a 2.4-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder engine, which comes standard on the LT1. The FlexFuel-capable engine generates 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque, and mates to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy numbers top out at 20/29 mpg. Owners can also opt for an available 3.6-liter V6, which delivers 264 hp and 222 lb-ft of torque, and posts fuel economy numbers of 16/18 mpg. Six airbags and GM's StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation come standard, along with traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, Hill Start Assist and Electronic Trailer Sway control. Outside, standard features include heated power side mirrors with integrated blind-spot mirrors, daytime running lights, a roof rack and 17-inch aluminum wheels.

Inside, the Equinox LT1 AWD receives a few new standard features for 2012, including a rear-vision camera and a Color Touch Radio with a 7-inch color touchscreen, USB port, CD player and SiriusXM radio. Other standard features include a leather-wrapped tilt/telescopic steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, OnStar with Bluetooth, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry and a driver information center with a compass. In addition, the cloth-upholstered driver's seat features power lumbar and power height adjustment, and the standard Multi-Flex sliding rear seat moves back and forth by up to 8 inches, making it easy for drivers to maximize passenger or cargo space.

This overview covers the LT1 AWD trim only.
