2012 Chevrolet Equinox LS Trim Overview

The Chevrolet Equinox LS crossover vehicle, which changes little for 2012, receives Bluetooth as a new standard feature, delivered through the vehicle's OnStar system. The LS comes equipped with a number of other standard features not often found on entry-level vehicles, including an AM/FM audio system with SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Multi-Flex rear seat, which slides back and forth up to 8 inches so it can provide plenty of legroom for taller passengers or maximize rear cargo space when needed. The tilt/telescopic steering wheel includes audio and cruise controls, and the driver's seat features power lumbar and power height adjustments. Air conditioning, remote keyless entry, cloth seats, power windows and door locks, and a driver information center with a compass are also on the LS's standard equipment list.

A 2.4-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder engine, which runs on both regular gasoline and E85 ethanol, provides base power for the front-wheel-drive Equinox LS. The engine generates 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque, and links to a 6-speed automatic transmission with an Eco mode, which adjusts shift points for better mileage when activated by the driver. Fuel economy numbers for the 4-cylinder powerplant check in at 22/32 mpg. Standard safety features include 6 airbags and GM's StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation, as well as traction control, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Trailer Sway control and antilock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist. Outside, standard features include power side mirrors with new blind-spot monitors, daytime running lights and 17-inch aluminum wheels.
