2012 Chevrolet Equinox LS AWD Trim Overview

The 2012 Chevrolet Equinox LS AWD features the automaker's all-wheel-drive system for optimal stability and wheel grip on all types of road surfaces. The vehicle operates in front-wheel-drive mode until the all-wheel-drive system detects wheel slippage, when it sends torque to the rear wheels in an approximately 70/30 split. The AWD system channels power from a 2.4-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder engine, which produces 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. The FlexFuel-capable engine mates to a 6-speed automatic transmission with an Eco mode, which adjusts shift points for improved fuel economy. Mileage numbers check in at 20/29 mpg. The Equinox LS AWD comes equipped with such safety features as 6 airbags, StabiliTrak electronic stability control, traction control, rollover mitigation, Hill Start Assist and Electronic Trailer Sway control, as well as antilock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assit.

Inside its spacious, well-designed cabin, the Equinox LS AWD comes equipped with such features as SiriusXM satellite radio, part of the AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system, and a driver's seat with power lumbar support and power height adjustment. The LS AWD also receives Bluetooth as a new standard feature for 2012, delivered through the vehicle's standard OnStar package. A Multi-Flex rear seat slides back and forth for up to 8 inches, so taller passengers can slide it back for more legroom, or owners can slide it forward when more cargo space is required. The LS's other standard interior features include a tilt/telescopic steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, cloth seats, power windows and door locks, and a driver information center with a compass.
