Overview of 2012 Cadillac CTS Coupe Premium By Eric Tallberg
As the flagship of the 2012 Cadillac CTS Coupe fleet, the Premium trim looks good and boasts a 10.5-cubic-inch trunk and standard split-folding rear seatbacks, just like its lower-end siblings. However, with a standard heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel with genuine wood inserts, leather and genuine wood cabin accoutrements, a hard-drive based navigation system with real time traffic, heated steering wheel, power-adjustable tilt-wheel steering and additional memory for driver's settings, this 5-passenger luxury 2-door is a distinct step up. All this is, of course, complemented by 18-inch polished alloy wheels and heated power-adjustable mirrors outside, with leather upholstery, heated power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, tri-zone climate control with Sun Sensor auto-adjust technology, keyless entry and ignition, rear parking sensors, power door locks and windows and a rear-view camera. Then there’s the standard Bluetooth-interfaced OnStar Directions and Connections service, as well as the 300-watt premium audio system with its single-CD player, 10 Bose speakers, satellite radio and USB connection.
Options for this top-shelf trim include a rear spoiler, power-tilting sunroof and the CTS Touring Package, with a performance-tuned suspension, 19-inch summer performance tires, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and 14-way adjustable Recaro sport bucket seats.
The standard (and only) powertrain for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) 2012 CTS Coupe Premium is a 3.6-liter direct-injected (DI) V6 and 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission. This combo puts out 318 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque to the variable-valve-timed (VVT) tune of 18 mpg city/27 highway.
Safety-wise, the CTS Premium Coupe for 2012 sports standard 4-wheel antilock brakes, traction and stability control, front and rear head airbags, active front headrests and front side-mounted airbags. Rain-sensing wipers are also standard for this flagship trim, as are daytime running lights, front fog/driving lights, high-intensity-discharge (HID) headlights, a post-collision safety system and a blind spot alert system. Finally, all CTS Coupe Premiums are delivered with OnStar Emergency Services, Airbag Deployment Notification and Stolen Vehicle Tracking.
This overview covers the Premium trim only.
