Overview of 2012 Cadillac CTS Coupe Performance By Eric Tallberg
Riding a notch higher than its base sibling, the midlevel 2012 Cadillac CTS Coupe Performance trim adds standard leather upholstery and heated, power-adjustable front seats to its list of standard features. Additionally, this head-turning 5-passenger 2-door boasts 10.5 cubic feet of trunk space and split-folding rear seats. Spiffy 18-inch alloy wheels and power-adjustable heated mirrors endow the handsome profile, meanwhile, with keyless entry and ignition, power windows, cruise control, a universal remote garage door opener, a rear-view camera and telescoping tilt-wheel steering gracing the cabin. Bluetooth-enabled OnStar Directions and Connections, meantime, will help ease the drive, while dual-zone climate control with Sun Sensor auto-adjustment allows occupants to keep cool while listening to the single-CD player with its 10 Bose premium speakers, satellite radio hookup and USB connection. All of this is, of course, complemented by standard driver's memory settings, a leather steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift knob and simulated carbon-fiber cabin accents.
Options for this midlevel trim include a rear spoiler as well as the Performance Luxury Package, with a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, a remote antitheft alarm and interior ambient lighting. Further options include the 19-inch Summer Tire Performance Package, which sports a performance-oriented suspension, brakes, and tires and a power-tilting sunroof.
The up-powered 318-hp 3.6-liter direct-injected (DI) V6 engine mates with a 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission to give the 2012 CTS Performance Coupe 275 lb-ft of torque. The V6 totes an extra 14 hp over last year’s version, yet with variable valve timing (VVT) still gets an estimated 18 mpg city/27 highway.
Standard safety features in the 2012 CTS Performance Coupe include 4-wheel antilock brakes, traction and stability control, front and rear head airbags, front active headrests and front side-mounted airbags. Daytime running lights and front fog/driving lights are also standard, as are a post-collision safety system, high-intensity-discharge (HID) headlights, blind spot alerts, rear parking sensors and a post-collision safety system. Finally, OnStar Emergency Service, with Airbag Deployment Notification and Stolen Vehicle Tracking, is also standard for the Performance trim.
This overview covers the Performance trim only.
