Overview of 2012 Buick LaCrosse Convenience By R. Feeman

The 2012 Buick LaCrosse Convenience sedan comes equipped with a number of features not found on the entry-level Base trim, including an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and power lumbar support for the 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat. In addition, the LaCrosse Convenience receives a new voice-activated IntelliLink system, which includes an 8-inch touchscreen and enables passengers to link their portable electronic devices to the vehicle's infotainment system via Bluetooth or USB. Drivers can also use the touchscreen to manage the 7-speaker audio system, which includes SiriusXM satellite radio, a CD player and an auxiliary port. Other standard features for the 5-passenger LaCrosse include cloth upholstery, a new color driver information center, remote keyless entry and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise controls. Outside, exterior features include a chrome waterfall grille, sculpted hood, chrome accents and underbody components designed to improve aerodynamics. Composite halogen headlights with auto on/off, daytime running lights, heated power exterior mirrors and 17-inch machined alloy wheels are also included.

Power for the front-wheel-drive LaCrosse Convenience comes from a new eAssist powerplant, which includes a 2.4-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission, as well as a 15-kilowatt motor-generator unit and a 115-volt lithium-ion battery. Under typical operation, the gas engine drives the vehicle, while regenerative braking charges the lithium-ion battery so it can provide an electrical boost of power when required. The powerplant generates 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque, and posts fuel economy numbers of 25/36 mpg. Six airbags are included, along with such additional safety features as the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, traction control and antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. The standard OnStar system also provides a number of safety features, including emergency services, crisis assist, remote door unlock and vehicle diagnostics.

This overview covers the Convenience trim only.
