2012 Buick LaCrosse Base Trim Overview

The Buick LaCrosse Base sedan receives a number of updates for 2012, including a new eAssist powerplant, which combines a 2.4-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission with a 15-kilowatt motor-generator unit and a 115-volt lithium-ion battery. Under normal operation, the gas engine powers the vehicle through the front wheels, while regenerative braking charges the lithium-ion battery so it can provide an electrical boost of power when required. The eAssist powerplant produces 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque, and delivers fuel economy numbers of 25/36 mpg. Standard safety features include 6 airbags and GM's StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, as well as traction control and antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. In addition, the standard OnStar system offers such safety features as emergency services, crisis assist, remote door unlock and vehicle diagnostics.

Inside, new standard features for the 2012 LaCrosse include dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth and a USB port for the audio system, as well as a new color driver information center. Buick also introduces its voice-activated IntelliLink system for 2012, which includes an 8-inch, high-resolution touchscreen display and enables passengers to integrate their portable electronic devices with the car's infotainment system. Drivers can also use the system to manage the vehicle's 7-speaker audio system, which comes with SiriusXM satellite radio. The driver's seat features 8-way power adjustment, and cloth upholstery comes standard, along with remote keyless entry and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise controls. Outside, the 4-door, 5-passenger LaCrosse Base displays flowing front-to-rear lines, a sculpted hood and chrome accents. In addition, the LaCrosse's signature chrome waterfall grille includes lower grille shutters, and underbody components help improve aerodynamics. Composite halogen headlights with auto on/off, daytime running lights and heated power exterior mirrors are among the other exterior features. The LaCrosse Base rides on 17-inch machined alloy wheels.
