Overview of 2011 Volkswagen GTI 2.0T Autobahn By Michael Perkins
Choosing the Autobahn package for your 2.0T GTI means you’ll add quite a bit. Little of it has anything to do with actually cruising the Autobahn system, but that doesn’t mean the additions aren’t useful. Here you’ll get a power sunroof for the power package that already includes windows, doors and heated mirrors with signals. Keyless entry is complemented by access and start here, and the stereo gets bumped up to a 6-CD system with controls on the leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, USB port and hard drive. Daytime running and fog lights are now matched by steering-linked adaptive bi-xenon units, the sole concession in this package to actual driving. Unfortunately, the cloth upholstery is replaced here by leather. Otherwise, things remain familiar with the turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, choice of 6-speed manual or dual-clutch shiftable automatic transmissions, traction and stability control. 18-inch alloy wheels are halted by 4-wheel antilock discs with assist, and a rear spoiler attempts to keep the back tires on the road, while 6 airbags lay in wait in case things go really wrong.
This overview covers the 2.0T Autobahn trim only.
