Traded My 2008 Avalon Touring For A 2011 Limited — 11/2012 update This car has been a wonderful car, aside from the very few personal issues. But it's now time to get the new 2013 Avalon. This one will make an outstanding car for someone, and it will have very low mileage, and most of it will be highway miles. It will have about 42,000 miles on it by the time I trade it in. The variable will be if I go with the cypress with almond interior or if I wait until the first of the year and get the nautical blue one? Oh, the personal issues: the wipers are a pain because of the noise when wiping The seats a bit uncomfortable on long rides ( but not as bid an issue if I get out and strength my legs more often). I have a bad habit of driving as many miles as possible before getting gas. The satellite radio goes in and out a lot more then I'd like. Damn that's not a bad list is it. *Up-date: After 1 year, I'm liking the car a lot more. Yes there are still a few things I'd like to see changed, but all-and-all, the car has been a dream to own, use, drive and enjoy. The wipers continue to be an issue, and the dealer has been great trying to fix. They just installed another new set of wiper blades, and these are working MUCH better. - MORE comfortable then any other car i it's class - It's looks grow on you (and others as aI see a ton of these when traveling). - Must be me, as everyone tells me the car is VERY quiet:) Would I purchase another Toyota Avalon, 2011 - Yes! Will I be purchasing a 2013 Avalon, unless it get bad reviews … hell yes. Oh, and they don't have an option below for "Traveling Salesman" or I'd check that box off. _________________ My 2008 (which I review back in October of 2008), was a fine car. Great, no, but fine just the same. Now I had the chance to drive a 2011 Limited edition, and well, it was enough better that I now own it:) Is this one great, nope, but it is a lot better. Issues: - Not as comfortable as I'd like on long drives - Not a knock out beauty. - A bit noisier than I'd like - Wipers can be very noisy - I few pieces of the finish / fit, isn't great, but I see it all the time, so I don't like it. I'd like them to offer a few more colors in this model, or a bit light on a few. The red looks black in almost everything but bright sun light. The brown is better, but still a bit dark for my liken. Now damn near everyone who rides in the car LOVES it! Back seats very spacious and comfortable. Plenty of room for putting things, should you not have anyone sitting in the back, and the trunk is full. I really do like this car a lot (even as I complain about it), and if the 2013 deals with these issues, I'll be buying that one too. Would I purchase this car again, and would I tell anyone to purchase one, hell yeah.

Great Family Car — Great family car for long-legged family, as seats are comfortable with plenty of legroom front and back. Good gas mileage for 75 mi per day commute by highway. Handles well. Seats in back as well as front recline and are comfortable for long rides.

I simply love what is known as "The Geezer Pleaser".  Everything is good to excellent except 2 cons below.  I had lusted after a Limited model for 5 yrs, didn't think I would ever afford a car over $30k.  Finally decided to scratch that itch, it is a lot of near luxury for $32k on close out sale.

Cons

The electronic display for stereo and heat/a/c completely washes out in bright sun.  I have to hold hand over to shade it.  The front seats could use a wee bit of side bolster to hold body in faster turns.  The color choices are all drab.  A dark electric blue or classy brick red would be most welcome.  Dark gray, are you kidding me in a climate that sees all gray days for sometimes two weeks at a November or March crack ??

The Whole Package — Other than those few cons, what is not to like ?? The vast majority of Americans want a comfortable, safe, reliable and economical car to drive from point A to point B. Avalon exceeds all those needs !! Extreme room, tons of 268 hp, very quiet inside, awesome 12 speaker, subwoofer, 660W stereo, iPod streaming, economy up to 34 mpgs highway with careful driving. It smooths out the rough freeze/thaw northern roads very well. Limited has perforated heated AND cooled leather seats, power thigh length seat adjustment for long legs, partially reclinable rear seats, keyless entry and operation is really handy. Even a power rear sunshade. It's like a Lincoln class for $10k to $15k less, 300,ooo mile reliability and significantly better economy. Other than washed out stereo & HVAC displays and drab colors, what's not to like ?? It's the "Whole Package". I simply love it. For $5k to $6k more than Camry, there is NO comparison.
