Touted as a hatchback, the unique-looking 2011 Honda Accord Crosstour is, at bottom, a crossover with a catchy name. Boasting 4 doors, 5-passenger capacity and 51.3 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seats folded, this oversize Accord also comes with an impressive list of standard luxury features, like leather upholstery, leather and simulated alloy cabin trim, and heated front seats with the driver memory feature for seats and mirrors, all of which add the “L” to its trim name. Further standard appearance and interior goodies include 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome grille, power sunroof, remote power door locks, power windows, heated, power, reverse-tilting outside mirrors and a universal remote garage door opener. Cruise control, dual-zone climate control and telescoping tilt-wheel steering come standard on this flagship trim as well, while standard satellite radio service, Bluetooth connectivity and a USB connection enhance the audio and communications experience. Options, all dealer-installed, include upgraded wheels, a roof rack, underbody spoilers, backup sensors and remote engine start.
As with the rest of the 2011 Crosstour lineup, the front-wheel-drive EX-L is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that’s mated with a 5-speed automatic transmission. This combo nets 271 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque, and can tow up to 1,500 pounds with the optional tow package installed. Mileage, with variable valve timing in the V6, is estimated at 18 mpg city/27 highway, a 1-mpg improvement over 2010.
Safety-wise, the 2011 Accord Crosstour EX-L comes with standard 4-wheel antilock brakes (ABS), as well as traction and stability control. Front side-mounted airbags, front and rear head airbags and front head restraint whiplash protection also come standard, as do daytime running lights, front fog/driving lights and a remote antitheft alarm.
