2011 Ford Ranger XL
The 2011 Ford Ranger’s base XL trim comes only in a rear-wheel-drive configuration with the 2.3-liter, four-cylinder engine. There is a choice of five-speed manual or automatic transmission, both offering the benefit of traction control. In keeping with the antiquated nature of the Ranger, vinyl upholstery covers the front split bench, and there’s nary a carpet in sight, with black vinyl covering the floor. It does have air conditioning, as well as an AM/FM radio, but not much else here unless you’re willing to count the tachometer. Ford even considers the painted bumpers a feature. 15-inch steelies get no covers, but at least the safety features weren’t scrimped upon, with dual front and front-side airbags, stability control with rollover sensor, antilock four-wheel disc brakes, and a tire pressure monitor.
2011 Ford Ranger XL SuperCab
The 2011 Ford Ranger XL SuperCab gets the benefit of rear jump seats to complement its front split bench, offering extra storage for a backpack or briefcase. Stock upholstery is upgraded to cloth here. Black vinyl floor covering and an AM/FM stereo let you know this is definitely a base trim, but it does have air conditioning. Powered by the Duractec 2.3-liter four-cylinder, you have a choice of a five-speed manual or automatic transmission. Safety features are well-represented, with traction and stability control with rollover sensor, four-wheel antilock disc brakes, a tire pressure monitor, and dual front and front-side airbags.
