CarGurus Overview By Jesse Berger
Gigantic and leather-lined, the 2011 Ford Expedition EL Limited is just the ticket for transporting eight passengers and their gear in style. This rear-wheel-drive version of the Expedition is well-suited to family trips and long-distance trailer hauling.
Weighing in at over 6,000 pounds, the 2011 Expedition EL Limited is certainly a beastly brute. Unfortunately this stretched Expedition must make do with the same, 5.4-liter V8 engine as the short-wheelbase models. Developing 310 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque, the 5.4-liter Triton motor tries hard but ultimately comes up short, resulting in sluggish acceleration when heavily laden. A well-behaved six-speed automatic transmission handles shifting duties.
The 2011 Expedition EL Limited's interior is distinguished not only by its utility, but by its uncommon luxury. The sheer size of the cabin is made all the more useful by a power-folding third row that, when stowed, results in a huge, flat load floor. A standard cargo management system keeps your gear securely in place. Luxury touches like heated and cooled leather seats abound, and the excellent 340-watt stereo system can be kitted out with GPS navigation and real-time traffic.
This overview covers the EL Limited trim only.
