Overview of 2011 Ford Expedition EL King Ranch By Jesse Berger
Nearly as large as the South Texas acreage that lends it its name, the 2011 Ford Expedition EL King Ranch is a three-ton monster designed to cart the whole crew and its gear from place to place in comfort. The King Ranch trim level lavishes slightly garish two-tone paint and tons of chrome on the Expedition EL's substantial flanks while upgrading the interior specification to nearly luxury-car levels.
Powering the 2011 Expedition EL King Ranch is the familiar 5.4-liter Triton V8 engine. With "just" 310 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque, the V8 motor struggles against the Expedition EL King Ranch's massive bulk. Though acceleration isn't swift, the six-speed automatic transmission does feature carefully spaced ratios that make the most of the engine's power.
Step inside the 2011 Expedition EL King Ranch and you'll be confronted with acres of dark brown Chapparal leather trim, embroidered with the logo of the eponymous Texas spread. The warm, fragrant leather seats are heated and cooled and adjust in nearly any direction. Other standard equipment includes dual-zone climate control, a power-operated tailgate, rear-view camera, and a clever cargo-management system.
This overview covers the EL King Ranch trim only.
