As the most fuel-efficient full-size SUV available, the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid 4WD delivers 20 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. These mileage ratings come courtesy of GM's two-mode hybrid system, developed jointly with Mercedes and BMW.

Driving all four wheels via a complex motor-generator system, the 2011 Tahoe Hybrid 4WD makes 332 hp and 367 lb-ft of torque. A 6.0-liter gasoline V8 is mated to a combination automatic transmission and electric motor. With more power and less weight than gas-only Tahoes, the Hybrid 4WD accelerates with gusto, though it's not able to tow as much.

The 2011 Tahoe Hybrid 4WD's interior features equipment worthy of its rather high base price. Leather seats are standard, as are dual-zone automatic climate control and a GPS navigation system. Options include a power sunroof and a rear seat DVD system.

Using GM's highly sophisticated two-mode drivetrain technology, co-developed with BMW and Mercedes, the 2011 Tahoe Hybrid features a 6.0-liter gasoline engine that mates to a combined transmission/electric motor assembly. Combined output is 332 hp and 367 lb-ft of torque. While not quite seamless, the Tahoe Hybrid's power delivery is well-executed considering the complexity of the system.

Interior appointments in the 2011 Tahoe Hybrid mirror those of the top-line LTZ trim. Standard leather seats, dual-zone climate control, and GPS navigation coddle passengers. A rear seat DVD system and power sunroof are optional. Outside, the Tahoe Hybrid gets unique 18-inch wheels plus distinctive badges and trim.
