Overview of 2011 Chevrolet Suburban LT 1500 By Jesse Berger
With the 2011 Chevrolet Suburban LT 1500, General Motors substantially ups the feature quotient to create a more luxurious truck that can carry eight passengers in style and comfort. As a rear-drive, half-ton variant of the so-called GMT900 platform, the Suburban LT 1500 is well-suited to long highway trips, but those looking to tow heavy loads should probably step up to the three-quarter-ton 2500 trim level.
Powering the 2011 Suburban LT 1500 is GM's stalwart 5.3-liter V8 engine. This Flex-fuel motor can operate on either gasoline or E85 ethanol and serves up 320 hp and 335 lb-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven via a six-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration is confident, if not enthusiastic, and the standard locking rear differential helps manage wheel slip.
Inside, the 2011 Suburban LT 1500 gets a big bump in terms of equipment when compared to the base LS trim. The standard front bucket seats limit passenger capacity to eight and are upholstered in leather, while the dashboard gets faux wood accents. Also standard are a Bose nine-speaker stereo that offers Bluetooth phone connectivity, a remote start system, and three-zone automatic climate control.
This overview covers the LT 1500 trim only.
