Overview of 2011 Chevrolet Suburban LS 2500 4WD By Jesse Berger
Though it's a bit large for tight trails, the 2011 Chevrolet Suburban LS 2500 4WD combines a heavy-duty suspension and a low-range transfer case to provide buyers with serious off-road capability. The Suburban LS 2500 4WD's substantial payload capacity and tow rating make it quite a workhorse, though its insatiable appetite for fuel means buyers who don't need its significant capability should consider a smaller vehicle.
The 2011 Suburban LS 2500 4WD features a 6.0-liter V8 engine that makes 352 hp and 382 lb-ft of torque. Despite its three-ton bulk, the powerful V8 enables the Suburban LS 2500 4WD to accelerate with confidence and tow up to 9,600 pounds. A six-speed automatic transmission sends power to an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case. The old-school four-wheel-drive system and all-terrain tires allow this beast to slog through the mud with the best of them. Fuel economy, never a strong point in this class, is positively abysmal, with the Suburban LS 2500 4WD returning a paltry 10 mpg in the city.
With a payload capacity of nearly 2,300 pounds, the 2011 Suburban LS 2500 4WD can carry nearly anything you can fit inside its commodious interior. Seating for nine and 45.8 cubic feet of cargo capacity make the Suburban an ideal road-trip vehicle for large families. Its lengthy standard equipment list includes power accessories, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, front and rear air conditioning, and cruise control.
This overview covers the LS 2500 4WD trim only.
