CarGurus Overview By Jesse Berger
The 2011 Cadillac CTS 3.6L Performance sedan gets a big upgrade in the engine room that finally does justice to its name. While 3.0L Performance trims lack the torque for spirited acceleration, this variant, with a punchy 3.6-liter direct-injection engine, gathers speed with much more enthusiasm.
Under the CTS 3.6L Performance's hood lies a direct-injection V6 with all-aluminum construction and variable valve timing. This motor generates a robust 304 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, contributing mightily to the 3.6L Performance's vastly improved acceleration. Disappointingly, the larger engine mates only to the competent (but boring) six-speed 6L50 automatic. Cadillac has curiously deigned not to install a manual gearbox in its Performance trim.
Stepping inside the CTS 3.6L Performance, one notices the sporty optional Recaro bucket seats and supple standard leather trim. In addition to an AM/FM/CD stereo with AUX input, buyers have the option of upgrading to a hard-drive-based Navigation/stereo combo that can store hours of music within the car.
This overview covers the 3.6L Performance trim only.
