A Great, Affordable Car That Yields The Most Grins Per Dollar. — awesome. Refined, not brutish like the WRX or Mazdaspeed 3. Feels like an Audi. The mini feels like a toy compared to this car. DSG with paddle shifters gets nice revs. Tight chassis, handles like a dream. Seamlessly shifts from daily commute car to fun to drive hot hatch. More mature than the competition. Interior is almost luxury level in terms of quality of plastics and chrome. Get one. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Would Love To Take It On The Track — I understand that there is an after market chip that you can purchase to add speed and other neat go-fast options to the GTI. I would love to have those mods done and take it on a track for a few laps to see how well this care can handle under extreme handling conditions. | ||

Best Car Ive Owned, Other Than My Vw Rabbit Project — its a VW not the best performance, but way better interior than any honda and most other cars, chip this biotch and it easily takes on most other boy racerish cars. definitely the best all around car you can buy. just go read car and drivers article comparing the VW GTI with 9 other cars in the same price range. Best Value For Money In Class!! — Performance not the best in class but still VERY good considdering that some of the competition is 2.5 and 2.3 litre engines. Build quality is excellent as you can expect from all VW's! Appearance is very sporty yet stylish and classy! Cost of ownership is ok... it is a bit thristy but still best in class. It is the most fun car i have owned and one of the best i have driven... Primary Use: Commuting to work | ||

Fun To Drive — Accelerates quickly, really does do 0-100km/h in 6 seconds. Handle very well around smooth corners but can be jumpy. The braking is not so good at high speeds. it looks beautiful both inside and outside. if you put pedal to the medal it will eat up a lot of gas. Overall the car is very fun to drive, its responsive, very fast and sends shivers down your spine. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) | ||

Tunable — This is my third straight GTI. I went from a 2003 20th Anniversary Edition MkIV to a 2006 MkV and now to a 2010 MkVI. It just keeps getting better and better.
