Overview of 2010 Toyota Prius Two By R. Feeman
The all-new, third-generation 2010 Toyota Prius II has a more aerodynamic exterior design than its predecessor, with better airflow along its roofline and corners, a flat underbelly, and a slightly lengthened tail. Its updated fuel-efficient Hybrid Synergy Drive powerplant includes two electric motors and an all-new, beltless 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle DOHC four-cylinder gas engine, which generate a combined 134 hp. The hybrid engine links to an ECVT, or electronic continuously variable transmission, which provides smooth and seamless shifting. The powerplant posts fuel-economy numbers of 51/48 mpg and drives the Prius from 0-60 mpg in 9.8 seconds. Toyota's Star Safety System, which includes enhanced vehicle stability control, traction control, hill start assist, and antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution, comes standard in the 2010 Prius II.
Inside, a new feature called the Touch Tracer Display projects on the instrument panel a virtual image of the multi-function steering wheel's audio and information buttons when they're pressed by the driver. This helps keep the driver's attention focused forward instead of down toward the steering wheel. Other standard interior features include cloth seats and door panels, automatic climate control, remote keyless entry, cruise control, and power windows and door locks. A multi-information display and a six-speaker AM/FM audio system with a CD changer, an MP3 input jack, and satellite radio capability also come standard. Outside, LED taillights and heated power mirrors are among the standard features. The 2010 Prius II rides on 15-inch alloy wheels.
This overview covers the Two trim only.
