For 2010 Toyota's FJ Cruiser Base offers the rugged looks that have made the SUV so popular along with a healthy complement of standard features. The FJ Cruiser Base trim is rear-wheel-drive-only (RWD), and as such the truck lacks the go-anywhere capability of its four-wheel-drive (4WD) stable mates. Off-road ability is further hampered by a lower ride height, which offers only 8.7 inches of ground clearance.
Powering the 2010 FJ Cruiser Base is Toyota's excellent 4.0-liter V6. Upgraded valve gear endows the V6 with 260 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque, more than enough to move the FJ Cruiser around smartly. A five-speed automatic transmission is the only available gearbox; it drives the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential.
All FJ Cruiser Base trims get standard power windows, locks, and mirrors. Air conditioning is included, along with a single-CD stereo and rear window defroster. Style-conscious buyers will want to upgrade the standard steel wheels to one of the snazzy alloy designs offered.
