Overview of 2010 Honda Civic EX By R. Feeman
The 2010 Honda Civic EX compact sedan adds a number of standard features not found on lower-end trims, including a one-touch power moonroof with a tilt feature, steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, a rear-seat center armrest, rear beverage holders, and a passenger-side seatback pocket. Honda also upgrades the sedan's audio unit to a six-speaker system with a USB interface, as well as a CD player, speed-sensitive volume, and an MP3 input jack. In addition, the automaker adds an exterior temperature readout to the instrument cluster. Other standard interior features for the Civic EX include air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel, and power windows and door locks. Owners can add an optional Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with voice recognition, as well as Bluetooth and XM satellite radio. The trunk offers 12 cubic feet of cargo space. The rear seatback splits 60/40 and folds down to expand cargo space into the cabin. Dual-stage front, front side, and side curtain airbags come standard.
A 1.8-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine provides power for the Civic EX. The engine generates 140 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque, and includes multi-point fuel injection, a Direct Ignition system, and a Drive-by-Wire throttle system, which help improve performance, fuel economy, and responsiveness. The engine mates to either a five-speed manual transmission, which comes standard, or an optional five-speed automatic. The EPA estimates fuel economy numbers at 26/34 mpg with the manual transmission and 25/36 mpg with the automatic. The engine runs on regular unleaded fuel. Antilock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution come standard. The Civic EX trim rides on 16-inch wheels with all-season tires.
This overview covers the EX trim only.
