Overview of 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 Coupe By Michael Perkins

This rear-wheel-drive muscle car sports a 5.4-liter, supercharged and intercooled V8 engine, putting out 540 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, a six-speed manual transmission and a 3.55 rear axle ratio. A MacPherson strut suspension up front is partnered with the traditional Mustang solid rear axle, three-link with a 43-inch Panhard rod. Four-wheel antilock disk brakes with Brembo rotors and calipers attached to 19x9.5-inch forged aluminum wheels handle stopping. On the outside it features many unique Shelby features, including a stainless steel dual exhaust system with 4-inch tips, an aluminum hood with an air extractor, unique aerodynamic chin and rear lid spoilers and Shelby racing stripes.

Inside, six-way power leather bucket seats keep you in place with patches of Alcantara that also wrap the steering wheel. Unique trim accents grace the seats, steering wheel, gauges and pedals, and more, and the My Color 125-option backlighting color system is standard. Power windows and locks with remote keyless entry are standard, as well as cruise, climate control, and anti-theft. Dual stage front and side airbags protect you in a crash, while Electronic Stability and Traction Control prevent one from happening in the first place. A tire pressure monitor, as well as a Personal Safety System to preload seatbelts in the event of a crash and an SOS Post Crash Alert system, are also standard. Options include an Electronics Package with voice activated navigation, dual-zone auto climate control, satellite radio, an in-dash video player, and a 10GB internal hard drive. You can also upgrade the stereo to a Shaker 1000 audio system with an in-dash 6-CD changer and ten speakers.

This overview covers the Coupe trim only.
