Overview of 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible By Michael Perkins

A 5.4-liter supercharged and intercooled V8 engine powers this convertible with 540 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque delivered through a six-speed manual transmission and a 3.55 rear axle ratio. The traditional Mustang solid rear axle, three-link with a 43-inch Panhard rod, controls things out back, while a MacPherson strut suspension takes the helm up front. The convertible rolls on 18-inch forged aluminum wheels and is stopped by four-wheel antilock disk brakes with Brembo rotors and calipers. A stainless steel dual exhaust system with 4-inch tips, aluminum hood with air extractor, unique functional chin and rear lid spoilers, and Shelby racing stripes all designate it as pure Shelby.

Alcantara will keep you stable while sitting in the six-way power leather bucket seats as well as keeping your hands from sliding off the steering wheel. Unique Shelby trim accents are found on the seats, steering wheel, gauges, pedals, and more, and the My Color 125-option backlighting color system comes standard, as well as power windows and locks with remote keyless entry. Cruise, climate control, and anti-theft are more standard features, along with dual stage front and side airbags and Electronic Stability and Traction Control.

Further standard features include s tire pressure monitor, a Personal Safety System to preload seatbelts in the event of a crash, and an SOS Post-Crash Alert system. The sun will come out with the help of a power cloth roof with a real glass window, equipped with defrost. Options include an Electronics Package with voice-activated navigation, dual-zone auto climate control, satellite radio, an in-dash video player, and a 10GB internal hard drive. You can also upgrade the stereo to a Shaker 1000 audio system with an in-dash 6-CD changer and ten speakers.

This overview covers the Convertible trim only.
