Overview of 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Limited By R. Feeman
The 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Limited comes equipped with a number of upscale features, including leather-trimmed heated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat with power recline and lumbar, and a four-way manual-adjustable passenger seat. Other standard features include air conditioning, remote keyless entry, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, and a power-sliding rear window. In addition, Ford equips the Sport Trac Limited with the SYNC in-cabin communications and entertainment system, which includes GPS functionality, enabling drivers to access traffic updates, turn-by-turn directions, and other information through Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones. A 190-watt premium AM/FM sound system with a 6-CD changer, an MP3 input jack, Sirius satellite radio, and a subwoofer also comes standard. Options for the 2010 Sport Trac Limited include dual-zone climate control, a power moonroof, and a voice-activated navigation system. Outside, the Sport Trac Limited displays such features as a three-bar chrome grille, foglights, chrome step bars, chrome roof rails, and power sideview mirrors, as well as a 4-foot-long cargo bed with tie-downs and an underfloor storage bin.
A 4.0-liter V6 engine, generating 210 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque, comes standard in the rear-wheel-drive Sport Trac Limited. Owners who require additional power can opt for an available 4.6-liter V8 engine, which produces 292 hp and 315 lb-ft of torque. The V6 links to a five-speed automatic transmission, while the V8 mates to a six-speed automatic. The V6 posts fuel economy numbers of 14/20 mpg, which improve slightly to 15/21 for the V8, thanks to its more efficient automatic transmission. Four-wheel antilock brakes and Ford's AdvanceTrac traction control system with Roll Stability Control come standard. When equipped with the V6 engine, the Sport Trac Limited can tow up to 3,500 pounds, thanks to its Class II trailer hitch, which Ford includes as standard equipment. When upgraded to the V8 and an optional Class III/IV hitch, towing capacity increases to 7,160 pounds. A Trailer Sway Control system helps drivers keep the vehicle under control when towing a trailer. The Limited rides on a four-wheel independent suspension and 18-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels with all-season tires.
This overview covers the Limited trim only.
