Overview of 2010 Ford Escape XLT 4WD By Eric Tallberg

It’s almost a sure thing that the 2010 Ford Escape XLT 4WD will keep going just fine through snow and mud with its intelligent four-wheel-drive (4WD) system. Carrying all the bells and whistles that endow its front-wheel-drive sibling, the Escape XLT 4WD features a mechanical center limited-slip differential that ensures full-time 4WD traction.

As with the front-wheel-drive trim, the 2010 Escape XLT 4WD is delivered with the standard 171-hp, 171-lb-ft/torque 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder (I4) engine and six-speed automatic transmission. The I4 and six-speed powertrain is rated by the EPA at 21/28 mpg. Also available for the Escape XLT 4WD is a 3.0-liter V6 engine that mates with the standard six-speed automatic transmission to put out 240 hp and 223 lb-ft of torque at 18/23.

This overview covers the XLT 4WD trim only.
