Overview of 2010 Chevrolet Colorado Work Truck By Jesse Berger
As the base trim in Chevrolet's Colorado line, the 2010 Work Truck rides on a 111-inch wheelbase and features a 6-foot bed. With a basic, regular-length cab and rear-wheel-only drivetrain the Work Truck is designed for just what its name implies, in the service of cable companies, small contractors, and individuals.
Powered by a 2.9-liter inline four-cylinder that makes 185 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque, the Work Truck drives its rear wheels via either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Power is adequate but not awe-inspiring, and the rather coarse engine, combined with a low level of sound deadening, makes for a rather thrashy driving experience.
The interior, while spartan, has some surprising details. The steering wheel is leather-wrapped, and air-conditioning and cruise control are standard. Yet the roll-up windows and cheap plastic dashboard underscore the Work Truck's vocational attributes. Consumers looking for a suburban runabout would be much happier with a more up-level trim.
This overview covers the Work Truck trim only.
