Overview of 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX By Michael Perkins
Really moving up the powerband is the 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX, with a 265-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a five-speed manual transmission with hill-holder clutch. As with the rest of the Impreza line, all-wheel drive and traction control are standard, while the WRX also enjoys a sport suspension and 17-inch alloys. A digital-media player connection is added to the AM/FM/CD/MP3 player, and automatic climate control further improves overall enjoyment. The driver’s cloth front bucket seat has height adjustability, and along with a leather-wrapped, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, you’ll be able to find a position that’s perfect for you and all your racing fantasies. A split-folding rear seat keeps passengers relatively comfortable, and cruise control and air conditioning mean you can relax on long trips. Speaking of which, a trip computer and tachometer are standard features, as well as an outside-temperature indicator, floormats, variable-intermittent front wipers, and a rear defogger. Power everything includes mirrors, windows, door locks, and remote keyless entry.
Safety features for the WRX include dual front, front side, and curtain-side airbags, four-wheel antilock disc brakes with brake assist and anti-skid, front-seat active head restraints, daytime running lights, a tire pressure monitor, and a theft-deterrent system.
This overview covers the WRX trim only.
