Overview of 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX Hatchback By Michael Perkins

For a hot hatch, look to the 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX Hatchback, which gets 265 hp from its turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. A five-speed manual transmission with hill-holder clutch handles power delivery to all four wheels via Subaru’s all-wheel-drive system with traction control. A sport suspension, rear spoiler, and 17-inch alloys show off what the WRX Hatchback has to offer. A leather-wrapped tilt and telescopic steering wheel has radio controls for the AM/FM/CD/MP3 player, which gets a digital-media connection at this level. Cloth covers the split-folding rear and front bucket seats, and the driver’s seat gets height adjustability. Power features include mirrors, windows, door locks, and remote keyless entry. Cruise control, air conditioning, and a trip computer are provided for longer ventures, and a center console and a cargo cover provide concealed storage. A tachometer, outside-temperature indicator, and floormats round out convenience features, while variable-intermittent front wipers are joined by a rear intermittent wiper, washer, and defogger to keep things nice and clean.

Safety features for the WRX Hatchback include dual front, front side, and curtain-side airbags, four-wheel antilock disc brakes with brake assist and anti-skid, front-seat active head restraints, daytime running lights, a tire pressure monitor, and a theft-deterrent system.

This overview covers the WRX Hatchback trim only.
