A Second Car In A Family — The car is small but the space for driver is big. The exterior is good looking and the buttons and interior are well designed. The engine is powerful, reliable. This car is small and I can find it very easy to park.

Pros

Amazing driving experience from such a small car; tight, tight, tight handling and gobs of power from the little turbo unit to make even the daily commuting grind fun.  The manual transmission is the only way to go.

Cons

Great for two regular-sized humanoids; a squeeze for three; impossible for four.

Fun In A Tiny Package — If you want a really enjoyable driving experience in a small, used hatchback in the US, you really only have six choices: the Mazdaspeed 3; the VW GTI; the last gen Suburu WRX and WRX STi or the MINI Cooper "S" and JCW. The Cooper "S" isn't the fastest, but it has that magical combination of "feel" + performance + design that's truly hard to beat. (I have excluded the Ford Focus ST and Fiesta ST, because they are so rare as used cars as of this writing). I drove all of them and ranked them as follows, purely on everyday driveability and that unquantifiable fun factor, as follows: 1. Cooper "S"; 2. GTI; 3. JCW; 4. WRX; 5. Mazdaspeed 3; and 6. WRX STI. Realizing that such rankings are highly personal and subjective, I won't bore you with all the variables that mattered to me, but suffice it to say, I purchased the MINI Cooper "S." I have not regretted the decision for one moment. It really is an amazing little car that rides and handles superbly.

Fun To Drive — The 2009 Mini Cooper S is our favorite vehicle for long trips and to do fun stuff around. It is my wife's daily driver and she totally loves the vehicle. Since we bought it the only thing done to it is regular maintenance. I was looking at a BMW 3 series or an Audi S4 for my wife but she always wanted a Mini. So I went and got the Cooper S. After reading many reviews and people complaining about carbon build up... that was the first thing that I checked. My mechanic told me that the car is in excellent condition. It is important to me because is my wife's daily drive to work. We used the car when we go on small trips for fun, to the beach, weekend get away and let me tell you for that is perfect. We have a lots of fun in this little car! I do recommend if you want to get one to stay on top of the regular maintenance and you wont have problems.

Love the way the car looks and I like go-kart feel

Cons

You feel every bump, breaks down every three months, mpg no where near what was I told, repair costs are huge and depreciates in value rapidly.

Not Worth It! — I was so excited to get my mini convertible! It was everything I had been looking for in a car and I really loved everything about it. Then, after a year, the honeymoon was definitely over. Long story short... Mpg plummeted, it breaks down every 3 months and I had to buy the extended warranty to keep up (but there is a deductible every time you bring it in!). In the past two years I have spent over $4000 in repairs and maintenance (with warranty!). It depreciated so much that I owe $10,000 more than the blue book values it at (and I bought it for below blue book!) so I can't unload it. It is still very cute and I get a lot of compliments but I tell people to run. Is a rolling money pit death trap.

Buy It. — Performance- The performance is amazing. Because the car weighs next to nothing, the little 4 cylinder can propel this car forward at a ridiculous rate. It also handles like a go-kart, there is a reason why this car was featured the way it is in The Italian Job. Build Quality- The car is built really well. Everything feels solid and there are no wonky plastic parts. Appearance- It looks like nothing on the road and with all the customization options, you can really make your MINI a unique car. The interior takes some getting used to but after using the car for a few weeks you will be able to use the controls blindfolded. Cost of Ownership- With a great maintenance program from BMW (who owns MINI) the cost of owning a MINI only boils down to tires and fuel. Unfortunately it runs on premium so your trips to the pump may be a little pricey. But considering it gets 40+ mpg, you wont be making those trips often. Fun factor- The MINI is so much fun. Both from a performance perspective and from a social perspective. Take a test drive to see what I mean about the performance. Socially you will experience a huge network of owners from all over the US.

Like Driving A Go Cart — I would recommend a Mini Cooper. Our experience has been good and we never get tired of driving it! Its just such a cool little car I never really get tired of looking at it either. In the future as our family grows and moves on I would certainly get another one, but trying to put several teenagers in the car is not real practical for now.

Needs a little more power but that's what you get for this trim level.

One Hot Mini — We liked everything about it. It's just a cool car and fun to drive. Love to drive it on a cold day with the seat warmers on. We get lots of thumbs up driving around town. Most importantly, my wife LOVES it.

Mini Rules — I would buy another MINI in a moment. Makes driving pleasurable, lots of complements, great value overall. It provides handling not know in an inexpensive compact. Dealer are fairly good -but would recommend local service instead. Spend a few bucks customizing - it's fun.

Great — The handling is great, especially when you push the "sport" button. It tightens up the handling so it respond more better. Not good for transporting people in back seats unless the are small. Small cargo space in trunk but we took the dog
