Powered by a 2.7-liter V6 engine, the 2009 Kia Optima SX V6 delivers both peppy performance and a sporty appearance. A new Optima trim for '09, the SX V6 midsize sedan comes equipped with such sport-oriented exterior features as a black-bezeled front grille, blacked-out projection headlights, and silver-finished 17-inch wheels, which distinguish it from its Optima stablemates. Other standard exterior features include dual exhaust pipes, front foglights, and power heated exterior mirrors with integrated LED turn signals. Its V6 engine generates 190 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, and links to a five-speed gated automatic transmission with the Sportmatic feature, which enables drivers to upshift and downshift by tapping on the shift knob. The V6 posts fuel economy numbers of 20/28 mpg, according to EPA estimates. An optional Electronic Stability Control Package adds such safety- and performance-related features as antilock brakes, traction control, brake assist, and an electronic stability program.
Inside, the sporty theme continues, thanks to such features as aluminum interior trim, metal pedals, sport cloth and black leather seating, and instrument gauges with red-white LED lighting, which help to enhance the visibility of the gauges, according to the automaker. Other standard interior features include an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, air conditioning, keyless entry, a 60/40-split fold-down rear seat, and a six-speaker AM/FM audio system with Sirius satellite radio and an MP3 input jack. Optional features include heated front seats, a navigation system, a power sunroof with tilt, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and an Infinity audio system with an in-dash 6-CD changer. Six standard airbags, including front-seat-mounted side and full-length side curtain airbags, also come standard.
