2009 Kia Optima LX Trim Overview

The Kia Optima LX midsize sedan receives a boost in power and a number of upgrades for 2009. Thanks to variable valve timing and a variable intake system, the Optima LX's 2.4-liter four cylinder engine produces 175 hp, a boost of 13 hp over the previous year's four-cylinder. The engine generates 169 lb-ft of torque and links to either a five-speed manual transmission, which comes standard, or an optional five-speed automatic with Sportmatic tap-up/tap-down manual shifting. The EPA estimates fuel economy numbers for the engine at 22/32 mpg. Safety features include six airbags and a tire pressure monitoring system, but to add antilock brakes, traction control, brake assist, and an electronic stability program, owners have to upgrade to the optional Electronic Stability Control Package.

Standard features for the '09 Optima LX's updated interior include cloth seats, full power features, air conditioning, steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise control buttons, a keyless entry system, and a six-speaker AM/FM audio system with Sirius satellite radio and an MP3 input jack. The rear seat splits 60/40 and folds down to expand the cargo space. Options include Bluetooth wireless technology, a trip computer, and an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat. Outside, the '09 Optima LX displays such features as new front and rear fascia, larger foglights, and revised headlights and taillights, as well as a chrome grille, body-color side moldings, and power heated exterior mirrors with integrated LED turn signals. The '09 Optima LX rides on 16-inch wheels.
