2009 Kia Optima EX V6 Trim Overview

The 2009 Kia Optima EX V6 midsize sedan offers more power and new exterior and interior features for 2009. Although the EX V6's 2.7-liter V6 engine essentially carries over from the previous year, it now comes equipped with variable valve timing and a variable intake system, which boosts power to 190 hp, an increase of 5 hp over the previous year's engine. The V6 develops 184 lb-ft of torque and links to a five-speed gated automatic transmission with the Sportmatic tap-up/tap-down manual shifting feature. The V6 posts fuel economy numbers of 20/28 mpg, according to EPA estimates. While the '09 Optima EX V6 comes equipped with six standard airbags, including front-seat-mounted side and full-length side curtain airbags, owners must upgrade to the optional Electronic Stability Control Package to add such safety- and performance-related features as antilock brakes, traction control, brake assist, and an electronic stability program. The '09 Optima EX rides on 16-inch alloy wheels.

New exterior features for 2009 include updated front and rear fascia and revised headlights, taillights, and foglights. Other standard exterior features for the Optima EX V6 include a chrome front grille, dual exhaust pipes, and power heated exterior mirrors with integrated LED turn signals. Inside, the Optima EX V6 features a freshened interior with such standard features as leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support, automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with a compass, keyless entry, and a trip computer. Optional features include heated front seats, a power sunroof, and power-adjustable pedals. In addition, Kia offers a navigation system as a new optional feature for 2009. A six-speaker AM/FM audio system with Sirius satellite radio and an MP3 input jack comes standard, while an Infinity audio system with an in-dash 6-CD changer is available as an option. The Optima EX V6 rides on 16-inch alloy wheels.
