CarGurus Overview

Moving up to the 24-valve 3.3-liter DOHC V6 engine in the 2009 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6 gets you 249 hp and 229 ft-lbs of torque at 4,500 RPM. This engine comes only with the 5-speed shiftable automatic transmission. No manual is offered. This front-wheel-drive sedan seats five comfortably, with 60/40 split-folding rear seats that feature an armrest that doubles as a trunk pass-through. Legroom is plentiful, as is cargo space. The trunk holds 16.3 cubic feet. Though it comes with its own power outlet, a cargo net and tray are optional.

A stronger front stabilizer bar improves the safety profile of this already highly rated midsize sedan. New electronic brakeforce distribution joins the 4-wheel disc and 4-wheel ABS brakes. Six airbags include dual front-side and side curtain. Traction and stability control are also standard. Other features include halogen lamps, daytime running lights, a security system, and a tire monitor for the 16-inch wheels with all-season tires. Automatic headlights are available as part of the Popular Equipment Package. A new dash and center console are highlighted by blue-black gauge lighting. Power windows, locks, and heated mirrors are standard, along with wheel-mounted cruise control, a CD/MP3 player with aux input jack, satellite radio, intermittent wipers, remote entry, tilt steering, and a tachometer.

Options add wood trim, a sunroof, a trip computer, and wheel-mounted audio controls. On the outside, chrome accents and mudguards are also available.

This overview covers the GLS V6 trim only.
