Overview of 2009 Honda Civic LX-S By Michael Perkins
Alloy wheels and a larger rear spoiler attempt to suggest sportiness for the LX-S Civic, but unfortunately the rather anemic 140-hp, 1.8-liter SOHC i-VTEC engine remains its powerplant, although it does manage to qualify the Civic as an Ultra-Low-Emissions-Vehicle (ULEV-2). That engine comes mated to either a five-speed manual or automatic transmission. Front disc and rear drum antilock brakes with power assist come standard, as well as a MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension. Turning is controlled via a power-assisted rack-and-pinion system that attaches to a leather-wrapped tilt and telescoping steering wheel.
For convenience, owners enjoy power windows, mirrors, and doors with remote keyless entry, air conditioning, cruise control, a CD/MP3 stereo with a digital media connection and integrated rear window antenna, a 12-volt outlet, tachometer, two-speed intermittent windshield wipers, rear defogger, a center console, and floormats. Front bucket reclining seats have active head restraints and an automatic tensioning system on the three-point seat belts, which also appear in the rear, without the ATS.
Further safety features include dual-stage/threshold front airbags, front side and side curtain airbags, side impact door beams, and daytime running lights.
This overview covers the LX-S trim only.
