Overview of 2009 Honda Civic DX-VP By Michael Perkins
The DX-VP adds a few amenities to the DX trim, namely air conditioning, an interior air filter, power mirrors, and an AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo with digital media connection. Still powered by the 1.8-liter SOHC i-VTEC engine that qualifies the Civic as an Ultra-Low-Emission-Vehicle (ULEV-2), the Civic DX-VP gets either a manual or automatic five-speed transmission. With 15-inch wheels and covers, front disc and rear drum ABS brakes with power-assist and power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, the Civic sports a MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension. A rear spoiler hints at a sportiness that is unfortunately not found.
Inside, front bucket seats offer driver height adjustability and recline for both. A tilt/telescoping steering wheel aids further in finding the perfect position, and cloth upholstery is standard. All seating positions enjoy three-point seatbelts and front passengers further are aided by an automatic tensioning system and active head restraints. Daytime running lights and a tire pressure monitoring system also fall on the list of standard safety features, along with side impact door beams, dual-stage/threshold front airbags, and front side and side curtain airbags.
Further creature comforts include an integrated rear window antenna, two-speed intermittent windshield wipers, a rear defogger, tachometer, and a 12-volt outlet.
This overview covers the DX-VP trim only.
