CarGurus Overview

2009 Ford F-150 Platinum LWB 4WD

Take the family to the theater over snowy roads or the crew to the jobsite through backwoods muck with the 2009 Ford F-150 Platinum LWB 4WD. Offering the roominess of the SuperCrew cabin configuration with the 6.5-ft bed and the elegance of the standard high-end amenities and options, the ’09 F-150 Platinum LWB 4WD is at home just about anywhere. Part-time, electronic shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive (4WD) assures traction and safety in any conditions.

The ’09 F-150 Platinum LWB 4WD comes equipped with the standard 5.4-liter Flex Fuel V8 that’s E85-capable and, when paired with the standard six-speed transmission, pushes out 310 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque. Alas, mileage suffers marginally with the four-wheel drivetrain, dropping to a still-reasonable 14/18 mpg.

2009 Ford F-150 Platinum LWB

Standing at the top of the F-150 heap is the just-introduced 2009 Ford F-150 Platinum LWB rear-wheel-drive (RWD), full-size, 6.5-foot-bed, styleside pickup. The ’09 F-150 Platinum trims are available only in the four-door, five-passenger SuperCrew configuration, which includes standard front, multi-level heated captain’s chairs. Additional standard appearance, comfort, and convenience features over those in the King Ranch trims include 20-inch polished alloy wheels, power-folding step running boards, and a rear backup camera system. Options for the ’09 F-150 Platinum LWB mirror the higher-end F-150 trim levels, including a power moonroof, a DVD/ROM navigation system with an in-dash screen, a Trailer Brake Controller, and a power-sliding rear window.

In keeping with its top-shelf status, the ’09 F-150 Platinum LWB offers the 5.4-liter Flex Fuel EFI V8 engine as standard equipment. Mated with the standard six-speed automatic transmission featuring a tow/haul mode, the ’09 F-150 Platinum LWB churns out 310 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque at 14/20 mpg, and is able to tow some 11,300 pounds when properly equipped with the available Class IV Max Trailer Tow Package.

2009 Ford F-150 Platinum 4WD

When the snow flies, take the 2009 Ford F-150 Platinum 4WD short-bed pickup out on the road with the assurance that its part-time, electronic shift-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive (4WD) traction will get the crew or the family wherever they have to go. Its standard 5.4-liter Flex Fuel EFI V8 and six-speed automatic provide 310 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque and can power through just about anything while delivering 14/18 mpg.

Four independent doors, five-passenger seating – in standard leather heated captain's chairs, no less - all the standard toys, as well as auto-locking hubs, electronic hi-lo gear selection, a limited-slip axle, and a mechanical center differential, will provide seamless 4WD performance in mud and snow, while a 1 foot shorter bed (5.5 feet) allows easier manuvering and parking in the city. Add the available skid plates, and the ’09 F-150 Platinum 4WD short bed can handle all the off-road shortcuts back to town as passengers enjoy its spacious and well-appointed cabin.

2009 Ford F-150 Platinum

For 2009, the Ford F-150 Platinum, the pinnacle of the F-150 lineup, offers a 5.5-foot bed to keep it at least somewhat nimble in city traffic. This four-door, five-passenger, styleside, short-bed pickup is available only in the SuperCrew cab configuration, so cutting 1 foot of bed length eases finding a parking spot in a crowded mall lot or even along Main Street. All the standard amenities and available options, including premium leather upholstery, 20-inch polished alloy wheels, a 6-CD changer, dual-zone air conditioning, rear-seat DVD entertainment, a power-tilt Vista Roof, and a Class IV trailer hitch with seven-pin wiring harness, are offered with the ’09 F-150 Platinum.

Additionally, the standard 5.4-liter Flex Fuel V8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission give the ’09 F150 Platinum plenty of oomph, with 310 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque, to haul 11,300 pounds of trailer when properly equipped. EPA estimates for the rear-wheel-drive '09 F-150 Platinum are 14/20 mpg.
