Overview of 2009 Ford Expedition XLT By Tim O'Sullivan
The 2009 Ford Expedition XLT is the base trim for this SUV, but it isn’t a bare-bones base and comes loaded with high-end features from the drivetrain to the exterior, which you might expect with an MSRP of $34,845.
The XLT shares a drivetrain with all 15 of the other Expedition trims – a 5.4-liter Triton V8 that produces 310 horsepower at 5,100 rpm and 365 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm and has a maximum towing capacity of 6,000 pounds, though that jumps to 9,200 pounds with the available (and affordable at $300-400) heavy-duty towing package. The V8 is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and gets 14 city/20 highway mpg.
The XLT provides this model line with its base features. On the interior those include cruise control, air conditioning, auxiliary rear A/C and heat, rear floor air vents, a tilt steering column, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power locks and windows, three power points, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, auxiliary audio jack, and a second-row 40/20/40 split seat with Ford’s CenterSlide slide-forward feature for the center section that reclines and folds flat to the floor for added cargo space.
The base exterior features include a Class IV trailer tow receiver with four-pin connector, foglamps, a rear windshield wiper, SecuriCode keyless entry pad, liftgate with flip-up glass, automatic headlamps with rainlamp, black roof side rails with crossbars, and black running boards.
Features that are unique to the XLT are 17-inch aluminum wheels, a chrome grille, chrome handles for the door and liftgate, black power heated side mirrors with security approach lamps and manual fold-away, first-row captain’s chairs with a six-way power driver’s seat, and an AM/FM stereo with single-CD player and MP3 playback ability.
This overview covers the XLT trim only.
