Available only at the beginning of the ’09 model year, the 2009 Dodge Avenger SE was, at the time, the base trim in the Avenger lineup. The five-passenger, four-door '09 Avenger SE is equipped with a decent number of standard appearance, comfort, and convenience features, such as 16-inch steel wheels, cloth front bucket seats, power windows, door locks, and mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, a front storage console, front and rear floor mats, and a single-CD player with four speakers and Sirius/XM satellite radio. Options for the ’09 Avenger SE include an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, UConnect hands-free communications, and a fold-down front passenger seat. Standard safety features are a bit lean for the ’09 Avenger SE, however, including only the usual front driver and passenger airbags, child-seat anchors, child-proof rear door locks, and a remote anti-theft alarm system.
The standard drivetrain for the ’09 Dodge Avenger SE is a 2.4-liter variable-valve-timed (VVT) inline four-cylinder engine (I4) and four-speed automatic transmission. This pairing nets 173 hp and 166 lb-ft of torque at 21/30 mpg. Additionally, a 2.7-liter V6, in either the E85-capable Flex Fuel or regular unleaded-gas version, was also available for the ’09 Avenger SE. Putting out 186 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque, the 2.7-liter V6, though a popular engine, is no longer offered for the ’09 Avenger.
