Overview of 2009 Chevrolet HHR SS By Michael Perkins
For those who really want to live the hotrod fantasy, the 2009 Chevrolet HHR SS is the closest you’ll get at a dealership. With a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder, good for 260 hp when mated to the five-speed manual transmission, this front-wheel-drive, 4-door compact wagon is by far the fastest of the HHRs. 18-inch alloys hide four-wheel antilock brakes with anti-skid and connect to the chassis via a custom sport suspension. Foglights and a rear spoiler further set the SS apart from the rest of the HHR line. A leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel integrates radio controls for the AM/FM/CD/MP3 player with digital media connection and satellite radio. Further convenience features include remote engine start and entry, as well as power mirrors, windows, and locks. Air conditioning and cruise control are standard, as is one year of OnStar, Bluetooth, variable-intermittent wipers, and a rear defogger. The 8-way power driver’s bucket seat and fold-flat passenger seat come with cloth upholstery, as does the split-folding rear. A center console, automatic day/night rearview mirror with compass, cargo cover, and floormats are all included. Safety features include traction control, dual front and curtain-side airbags, a tire pressure monitor, and daytime running lights.
This overview covers the SS trim only.
