2009 Acura TSX Base Trim Overview

This sporty sedan trim gets a new 16-valve, 2.4-liter, DOHC iVTEC inline-four engine, matched to a 5-speed shiftable automatic with controls on the steering wheel. The powertrain in the 2009 Acura TSX Base puts out 201 hp and 170 ft-lbs of torque at 4,300 RPM and averages 21/30 mpg. The front-wheel-drive sedan gets a stiffer body, enhanced reinforcement, and tweaks to its double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension. A wider profile allows more hiproom, though legroom remains the same (42 inches in the front, 34 in the back).

Although it's a base trim, it's still an Acura, and it offers a boatload of features. The 2009 TSX Base offers a full power setup, which includes remote entry, a power sunroof, heated mirrors that reverse-tilt when backing up, a garage remote, wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, and an 8-way driver's and 4-way power passenger seat with driver's memory settings. Also included are Bluetooth, a 7-speaker CD/MP3 player with iPod jack and satellite radio, leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and alloy and leather accents. On the dash you'll find a trip computer, tachometer, temperature readout, and compass. There are cupholders front and back and two front power outlets. Rear seats split-fold 60/40 and feature an armrest that doubles as a storage compartment. The trunk holds 12.6 cubic feet.

Safety is not neglected in the 2009 TSX Base. 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes come with electronic brakeforce distribution. Traction and stability control, dual front-side and side curtain airbags for both rows, and front and rear stabilizer bars are also standard. Adding further safety are mirrors with turn signals, 17-inch alloy wheels and all-season tires, a tire monitor, automatic headlights, foglights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and xenon HID headlamps. The only option is the Technology Package, which adds a real-time navigation system and an upgraded sound system.
