Great power and MPG given its size.  Super comfortable

Cons

Factory roof rack is pretty weak and does not have much clearance over the actual roof top.

Very Good Everyday Driver. — Overall, the Highlander has been outstanding. A huge amount of cargo space, especially with the 3rd row seat folded down. It has a very smooth ride, and a great sounding stereo with easy connectivity to your phone. The drivers seat seems almost infinitely adjustable. And finally, it really gets out of its own way. Great power for passing and climbing long grades, but without sacrificing efficiency.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros

Fits the family and friends with room to spare.  Can't get lost with the navigation system and the entertainment system keeps the kids happy for the long family trips.

Cons

With having OCD, black was not the best choice.  When cleaned, nieces looking vehicle around.  I wash and wax it all the time but that can be the OCD;)

Best Vehicle For The The Family On The Go. — This vehicle can be a daily commuter or a vehicle for the week end get aways. Tows my boat with no problem all the way from NY to NJ. The leather is easy to clean and the heated seats are great in the winter.

Pros

Drives great and lasts forever

Cons

The "Hybrid" really doesn't save anything on gas. I get around 22.5-23.6 miles per gallon. Only 2 miles per gallon compared to someone I know with the same year, same size non hybrid Highlander.

Great Car... Don't Waste Your Time Getting The Hybrid — I love this car and love Toyota's. Decent room in the front and back seat but the 3rd row is a waste. A 9 year old couldn't even comfortably sit back there. I did not like how there is no AC in the back half of the car but did like how they have heat. (No idea why they would have one without the other). This car would be great for a family of 4-5 with no car seats. The 3rd row can pretty much be folded down and made into more cargo space.

Great Family Car! — The Highlander Hybrid is a great family car. It has been reliable in all weather conditions. The fuel economy is good. Once you learn how to use the hybrid system the fuel economy increases. The third row easily reclines to more cargo space. The DVD system is terrific and comes with wireless head phones.

Cons

2008 Highlander Hybrid---the 4500 Pound "economy" Crossover — Lexus-like interior with great MPG...and the kids love it! There are eleven cupholders, 2 power points up front for both spouses cell phones, and a power rear hatch. Nice touches. With some practice, I've mangaged 30.9 mpg on the highway, and nearly the same in the city cycle. Wold like a slightly firmer suspension tune, but that's the compromise. And it runs on 87 octane fuel.

Pros

nice redesign; great ride; great acceleration

Cons

Base w/Popular plus pkg needs auto light pkg included; Steering "clunk" on right turns

Nice Remake By Toyota For Their Suv — Toyota did a nice job in redesigning the Highlander for '08. Acceleration is great and the ride and handling are excellent. I bought the I have the Hybrid Base model w/a Popular Plus pkg. Could use the auto light feature that comes w/the limited model though. The steering is an issue w/clunking on right turns, but it doesn't effect performance or handling.

Superb Suv — I have a review on my own photo album that I will complete. It's a must see. The seat comfort and build quality are unparalled. The fuel economy is excellent at nearly 28 mpg in both city and highway driving. This SUV sets a new standards by which most other car based SUVs are judged.

Highlander Hybrid — This is a well built SUV that rides like a luxury car. It handles like a mid-size car. Accelerates quickly, it is a little pricy but you pay for luxury. I love it.

2008 Highlander Hybrid — This is our first hybrid and we love everything about this vehicle. Gets 28 mpg consistently. We love the color and the 19" rims that are standard on the Limited. The 3rd row seat really comes in handy for hauling my son and his buddies around. We've had zero problems with this SUV so far.

Happy In Paradise — I tow a 2 ton trailer. I am happy with the mileage (about 15). I adde a blue tooth so am able to have both hands free while driving. The monitor system is wonderful showing current gas mileage, tire pressure, etc.
