CarGurus Overview
As the entry-level Camry Solara for 2008, the SE comes with a limited list of standard features. But that list does include such essential safety features as antilock brakes, front and rear side curtain airbags, and a direct tire-pressure monitoring system.
The 2008 Camry Solara SE also comes equipped with a number of features usually found in higher-end vehicles, such as an in-dash six-disc CD changer with an MP3 input jack, an outside temperature gauge, and solar-energy-absorbing glass, which helps keep the car's interior cooler on sunny days.
If there's a component that seems to be lacking, it's the SE's engine, according to many drivers and reviewers. The 2.4-liter VVT-i four-cylinder engine produces just 157 horsepower, which is adequate but hardly impressive for what is essentially a sport coupe. A 210-horsepower, 3.3-liter VVT-i V6 can be selected as an option, and it's a better choice for drivers who are seeking more power. Both engines link to either a five-speed manual overdrive transmission or a five-speed automatic. A
The front-wheel-drive Camry Solara SE borrows its underpinnings and basic design from the standard Camry sedan, but adds a sleeker roofline, a tighter suspension, and a more responsive rack-and-pinion steering system.
This overview covers the SE trim only.
