Starting out with the 2008 Suzuki Forenza Base gets you power windows, locks, and heated mirrors and a CD/MP3 player with a six-speaker sound system. The front-wheel-drive sedan seats four in two rows, with 60/40 split-folding rear seats that open onto a 12.4-cubic-foot trunk. A folding armrest doubles as a storage compartment. Bolstered by a four-wheel independent and Macpherson strut front and rear suspension, the 2008 Forenza Base rides on 15-inch wheels with all-season tires. The only engine is a 16-valve, 2.0-liter, 127-hp DOHC inline four that gets 131 ft-lbs of torque at 4,200 RPM. It is paired with a 5-speed manual or optional 4-speed automatic. Fuel economy averages 20/28 mpg, and the gas tank holds 14.5 gallons.
The 2008 Forenza earns four stars in crash tests, but does not come with ABS brakes or side curtain airbags. 4-wheel disc brakes and dual front-side airbags are standard, along with a tire monitor, halogen lamps, and daytime running lights. A tachometer, intermittent wipers, tilt steering, two front power outlets, four cupholders, and an MP3 input jack are also part of the equipment. In addition to full power features, the Convenience ups the ante with remote entry and cruise control, mounted on the steering wheel alongside the audio controls. These join intermittent wipers, a CD/MP3 player with an MP3 jack, a tachometer, two front power outlets, and four cupholders.
The front-wheel-drive sedan is powered by a 2.0-liter, 127-hp DOHC inline four engine paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The 2008 Forenza Convenience rates four stars in crash tests, probably due to the lack of side curtain airbags. Dual front-side bags with passenger deactivation are standard, along with 4-wheel disc braks, 15-inch wheels with all-season tires, a tire monitor, and daytime running lights. Foglights come with the Popular Package. Legroom ranges from 42 inches in the front to nearly 37 in the back. Rear seats split-fold 60/40. The trunk holds 12.4 cubic feet and comes with tie-downs. Adding a bit more cargo versatility to this inexpensive first-time car, the 2008 Suzuki Forenza Base Wagon is a five-door hatch that increases cargo capacity from 19.3 cubic feet with the seats up to 62 cubic feet with the 60/40 split-folding rear seats down. The wagon also adds a standard roof rack for more space. Riding on a Macpherson strut front and rear suspension and 15-inch wheels with all-season tires, the 2008 Forenza Base Wagon gets new chrome handles this year. Power comes from a 16-valve, 2.0-liter, 127-hp DOHC inline four and 5-speed manual transmission. A 4-speed automatic is optional.
Nicely equipped for a Base trim, the wagon comes with power windows, locks, and heated mirrors. A 6-speaker sound system features a CD/MP3 player with a separate MP3 input jack. Intermittent front and rear wipers, a tachometer, and tilt steering are also standard. The wagon adds a third power outlet in the trunk to the existing two front power outlets. Dual front-side airbags feature passenger deactivation. Other safety features in the 2008 Forenza Base Wagon include 4-wheel disc brakes, a tire monitor, halogen lamps, and daytime running lights. A Popular Package adds a sunroof and foglights, and Bluetooth is available from the dealer.
