Many experts and reviewers have suggested that the Aura sedan is the vehicle that saved the Saturn marque.  This mid-size sedan debuted in 2007, and represented a dramatic departure from the previous look and feel of Saturn's offerings.  The Aura's styling cues are clearly inspired by European luxury sedans, and its performance aims to match this aggressive presentation.

The Aura is powered by a 3.5 liter V6, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.  This engine delivers 224 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque.  All Auras are front-wheel drive, and full economy is estimated 18/29 mpg.  

This new sedan is quite large compared to past Saturn models, weighing nearly 3600 pounds and stretching to 191 inches.  A stretched 112-inch wheelbase creates ample room for rear passengers, and a large truck offers 15 cubic feet of cargo space.  Comfort and convenience features include full power accessories, cruise control, air conditioning, OnStar, a six-speaker CD/MP3 audio system with an auxiliary MP3 audio input, and a power driver seat.  The upscale XR trim adds several luxury and performance enhancements.

Both Aura trims, XE and XR, come standard with a myriad of safety features, including ABS, traction control stability control, dual front side-mounted airbags front and rear head airbags, passenger airbag occupant sensing deactivation, front seatbelt pretensioners, and a tire pressure monitor.  

Consumers have been very pleased with the Aura's sporting presentation, especially on the upper level XR.  This models comes with 18-inch wheels, steering wheel paddle shifters, chrome trim, and performance tires.  All Auras have received acclaim for their quiet cabin, bold styling, and powerful engine and strong fuel economy.

Owners and reviewers have noted that Saturn could add to the upscale feel of the car by swapping out some of the interior plastic for higher grade materials.  For some reason, the back seat is missing a center armrest.
