Jeep — 2.0-liter in-line 4 158 horsepower @ 6400 rpm 141 lb.-ft. of torque @ 5000 rpm EPA city/highway fuel economy: 23/27 (automatic only) Safe and city-friendly, yet tough enough for weekend camping—and bargain-priced—the 2008 Jeep Patriot has a lot going for it.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

It has the typical Jeep look and reliability.

Cons

Somewhat disappointed on the mpg, but it's a Jeep!

Meets Expectations — We purchased this Jeep in 2008 and have been pleased with the performance. The Jeep is easy to maintain, but a little disappointing in the fuel area. The Jeep Patriot Limited is comfortable to seat 4 people comfortably and a decent area of storage in the back. This Jeep Patriot Limited is not the 4X4, but has a useful luggage rack on top!

Pros

I love Jeeps. And Patriot is the most affordable option. I consider this vehicle the best value among the small SUV segment. The cargo area, when the seats are fold down is surprisingly big. It provides great fuel economy with very decent performance. The vehicle handles really well on snow or rain.

Cons

The only reason that I am selling this car for is the fact that I need an extra seat (bigger car)

One Of The Best Values In The Market — There is nothing particular that I dislike about this car. I think that for the price it is a great vehicle and pretty good equipped too. I love Jeeps. And Patriot is the most affordable option. I consider this vehicle the best value among the small SUV segment. The cargo area, when the seats are fold down is surprisingly big. It provides great fuel economy with very decent performance. The vehicle handles really well on snow or rain.

Pros

Highly underrated Chrysler product. CVT transmission gives the 2.4L engine a lot of pep, with no ugly shift points usually associated with small 4 cylinder engines. Able to comfortably transport 4 adults 12+ hours to the beach with luggage strapped to the roof racks. Great mileage for an SUV, with up to 25 mpg highway. Has the look of the classic Jeep Grand Cherokee from the early 90's. Front wheel drive, with auto-4WD with the flip of a switch.

Cons

Transmission noise is constant and a lot of vibration. Interior is blocky and arm rests are not padded. Seat padding is thin and is not comfortable for extended drives. Ball joints need replacing at 50K+ miles.

Compact Suv With Retro Looks And Lots Of Positive Comments On Style! — Sharing the same basic platform with the Jeep Compass and Dodge Caliber, this small SUV is great on mileage and has the look of the classic Grand Cherokee. Low maintenance overall and surprisingly roomy interior. Options include stain resistant seat material and heated seats on the Sport model.

Great Car with plenty of room at all 5 seat belts for tall people.

Cons

If quietness is your thing, this is not a car to consider, engine is buzzy

Great Car That Got Ruined For The First 30k By Lousy Tires! — When I originally test drove a Patriot it performed extremely well. I was sorely disappointed with the version that ended up in my driveway. The difference between the two thru the process of elimination was the one that I bought had the tire and wheel package which put Goodyear Wrangler SR-A's on it. Never did I ever think that a tire could ruin the performance of a good car that much. I was preparing the car to sell and put what I thought was a pretty good inexpensive tire on the car to enhance the saleability. What I got was a great car with the best damn tires I have ever put on a car! The tires are Hankook Optimo H727's. They changed the performance of the car so much that I kept the Patriot and sold an '09 Dodge Avenger instead. The fuel usage has improved dramically with the new tires. It has gone from 18-20 mpg around town to 23-25! Handling is amazing for small SUV.

Its A Strong Vehicle Reliable And Safe. — it is reliable, semi-rugged, I wouldn't drive it off road for too long, but it handles well it retains its value relatively well and the gas mileage is ok somewhere between 23-26MPG. it is average as far as driving is concerned

An Above Average Car For The Typical Above Average Person. — This vehicle is great. We have the Base-Sport model with not a lot of options, but it is a fantastic vehle. it doesnt do so well in the snow and feels kinda small. but overall, it is a great car.

Pros

Come rain, sleet, snow, monsoon, mud-slide, natural disasters, you still feel safe and cosy knowing you'll be able to just plough through it.

Cons

People will hate you for owning it because they wrongly presume it's a gas guzzler.  Also, noone will even let you out of a junction again.

Jeep Patriot — I love my jeep because it's big and ugly and has a heart, and is different from all of the run of the mill clone cars. It also bugs the hell out of me though because it was obviously built on a Friday by blind monkeys so is a bit rattly at times.

Solid And Good Daily Driver — Good and solid daily driver. Engine could use a few more horses and the automatic transmission takes some getting used to but wife loves it so I got no bad things to say about it. Build quality isn't excellent and it's missing a few interior features (like working marker lights on a few switches). It's rugged and easy to clean interior makes a dog owner happy.
